Running a site in Lando

Why?

While in theory it is possible to maintain different versions of PHP on your local development machine, it is something that will cost you a lot of time, and, maybe more important, each of your colleagues will also be forced to invest a lot of time in keeping her development machine up to date. In the past years a lot of effort was put in to this problem by a lot of people in a multitude of communities.

Who am I

My name is Louis Nagtegaal and since about 1997 I am a professional web developer. Before that I studied Dutch and Computational linguistics at the University of Amsterdam, in the last I graduated to doctorandus (a beautiful term from the old Dutch education system, which is now replaced by the global much more terms 'bachelor' and 'master').

Off with his head

My first adventure into headless Drupal, PART 1

“The executioner's argument was that you couldn't cut of something's head unless there was a trunk to sever it from. He'd never done anything like that in his time of life, and wasn't going to start now.

The King's argument was that anything that had a head, could be beheaded, and you weren't to talk nonsense.

The Queen's argument was that if something wasn't done about it in less than no time, she'd have everyone beheaded all round.

Setting the standard

Make sure that IDE respects the coding standards

Shame on me

I really love writing blogs. Some blog are nice to write because I get the chance to really research some less know problems and find a great deal of satifcation from getting it al together and getting a real deep understanding of some tool or API I am using. Other blogs do not have such a high goal, and this is one of them. This blog is not written for some deep longing to knowledge, this blog is written to finally document something that I only do whenever I get a new development environment.

How to get SSAD

Single Sign on with Active Directory in Drupal 8 Denial As in most open source communities, in the Drupal community there is a healthy distrust against closed source software like Windows.

What the fq? A short summary of Solr query fields

#And how to use them in Drupal
A popular search engine for Drupal is Apache Solr. Although installation and configuration of Solr can be done almost completely via the Drupal Admin UI, in some cases it can be very instructive to see and understand what data is sent to and from Solr when a search is done from Drupal. First place to look when using Solr inside Tomcat is the log file of Tomcat, usually /var/log/tomcat6/catalina.out.
